The Development of Digital Public Affairs in Austria

by Katharina Lebenbauer

ABSTRACT

Digitalization has become more and more important in recent years and has become increasingly important for a wide range of professions. This is also the case for the public affairs sector. While years ago lobbyists were not able to use social media in their daily work because it simply did not exist yet, this has changed abruptly over the last few years. Social media has taken a significant role in some professions and so also in the public affairs profession. Digitalization and the concrete use of social media appear to be helpful, for example, in preparatory work in the form of research. In direct lobbying, the personal conversation, however, not so much. Covid19 has once again given greater importance to digitalization in the public affairs sector. Various professional lobbyists treat it differently. This literature review therefore deals with the development of digitalization in the public affairs sector.
